We are seeking a strategic and experienced volunteer HR Manager to provide leadership and support in implementing HR strategies, policies, and procedures across the organisation. You will be vital in developing initiatives related to recruitment, employee engagement, and compliance, ensuring they align with our remote-first environment and support The Community Revolution’s mission of sustainable development.
Location: Remote (The Community Revolution operates as a remote-first digital workplace)
Commitment: Volunteer
Reports to: Director of Human Resources / Head of HR
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week
Key responsibilities and deliverables
A clear, scannable list of the primary duties. Use action verbs and focus on outcomes.
- Assist in developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract and retain top volunteer talent.
- Design and deliver member engagement initiatives, workshops, and training programs to enhance skills and performance.
- Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements and organisational needs.
- Provide support and guidance on member relations matters, including conflict resolution and performance management.
- Lead the implementation of performance management systems, including goal-setting, feedback, and evaluation processes for volunteers.
Essential requirements

Experience and knowledge
- Minimum 3 years of experience in HR, preferably in a strategic or supervisory role.
- Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Demonstrable passion for social enterprise, sustainable development, and the volunteer sector.
Core skills and competencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a remote team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage complex priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Digital Workplace requirements
Basic digital literacy and a reliable internet connection are essential.
Proficiency with modern digital tools for remote collaboration, including:
- Groupware: Email (Gmail) and Calendar management.
- Office Software: Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) for document creation and data management.
- Communications: Video conferencing and messaging applications.
Desirable skills and experience
Skills that would make a candidate stand out, but are not mandatory.
- Previous experience managing or leading a remote or digitally-focused team.
- A master’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Previous experience with project management principles and practices is beneficial.
- Familiarity with specific HR software and recruitment systems.
