About the role

As a Nutrition Researcher, you will play a critical role in designing and conducting research studies related to diet, nutrition, and public health. You will be responsible for various aspects of the research process, including study design, data collection, analysis, and publication of research outputs. We are seeking a passionate individual with experience in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or Epidemiology, who is proficient in data management and analysis using statistical packages. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a research team.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Perform literature searches to support research studies.
  • Ensure the implementation of studies adheres to research governance, integrity, and ethical guidelines.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the research, reporting regularly to the research team and collaborating with the Principal Investigator.
  • Assist in data acquisition, collation, storage, cleaning, validation, and statistical analysis using appropriate software (e.g., SPSS, Gnu PSPP, Jamovi, JASP).
  • Contribute to the preparation and publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Provide assistance in preparing research proposal submissions to external funding bodies.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and research team to lead on data analysis.
  • Collect and collate study data, draft documents, and other related materials as part of the research process.
  • Maintain communication with external collaborators and members of the wider research group.
  • Undertake essential training relevant to the current role.
  • Provide health advice and promote healthy eating practices.
  • Offer guidance on special diets and nutrition-related matters.
  • Educate health professionals and the public about nutrition-related topics.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and support the work of other healthcare professionals and community leaders.
  • Advocate for food systems that promote healthy, diverse, and balanced diets in both rural and urban populations.

Experience

Desired, but not required:

  • A degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or Epidemiology, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in research within Public Health or Epidemiology, with exposure to diet-related data.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data management and analysis using statistical software packages.
  • Experience in collecting and collating information accurately and maintaining precise research records.
